The position of a user interface designer with Emerson Stone will involve strategy, creative design and production design. The position is meant to augment the senior designers on the team and speed up the design process throughout the agency. There will be opportunities to showcase your unique designers as well as closely working with the agency partners.
Applicants should have at least one year of experience within the industry—either agency or in-house—with a portfolio that shows off the quality of work and the thought process behind the work. This position is intended for designers who want to grow into a role that understands the requirements of large-scale application design from user research through final interface design. All designers at Emerson Stone work closely with the development team, so a basic understanding of how code works is essential.
Outside of interfaces and product work for web and mobile, there is also the possibility of working on other designs as necessary. The agency has done book designs, many brand packages, virtual-reality applications, and physical product packaging. We're a small and nimble team, and are looking for someone with good design taste that wants to grow with us.
Emerson Stone expects a dedicated work ethic from everyone at the agency. While the position is largely focused on the website and application work, there will be other requests that occasionally arise. The ethos of the agency will always be: if you can design one thing, you can design every thing.
This position requires at least one year of relevant design experience for an agency or in-house team. There has to be a demonstrated ability to work hard, understand complex systems, and deliver quality work on time. Experience will need to span most design applications, from the Adobe portfolio to Sketch, as well as modern app-prototyping tools.
An interest in code is recommended as most of the design work is intended for the screen and will have to be implemented by the development team. Any previous experience in front-end development is a great benefit.
A portfolio of previous work, as well as a cover letter explaining why you would be a great fit for the agency will be required for your application. Sorry, no recruiters.
